Biography

Contemporary artist Victor Colesnicenco, or Nemo, was born in 1968 in Chisinau, Moldova. From a young age, Nemo was fascinated by the carvings and craft-work of Eastern Europe and was determined to become an artist. He formed a particular interest in the Surrealists and soon enrolled in art school. However, he did not enjoy the strict academic style of the Russian based academy and soon abandoned his traditional training in favor of practical experience. His talent flourished and he soon began to organize large outdoor art fairs to showcase his art and that of other young, ambitious artists.

After his enlistment of two years with the Soviet Army, Nemo returned to his artistic career and started a successful restoration and mural business. Inspired by his ever-increasing freedom, Nemo moved to Niagara Falls, Canada with his family; a place he considered to be “the gate-way to the world”. Nemo’s work is currently collected and represented in galleries throughout North America.

The prevalent theme of Nemo’s work is primarily travel and discovery. The artist effortlessly fuses the charm, mood and idiosyncrasies of several famous landmarks and skylines called “Global Villages” or “Metroland’s”, so as to create a dreamlike memory of time and space.
