Biography

Canadian artist Jacques Landry was born in the small, peaceful village of Lyster, Quebec. As a child, Landry attended various art workshops, however, he remained primarily remained self-taught. For more than 10 years, he has devoted himself to his career as a painter and to developing the visual arts community, in parallel with his career in management. The artist has exhibited throughout North America, primarily in the Quebec region.

The artist’s main source of inspiration comes from his love of music. Landry states: “certain instruments particularly touch me and make my sensitive strings vibrate. Painting while listening to music has become a necessity…”

His artistic journey gradually shifted from a great concern for detail to an ever-growing desire for freedom, leading him to adopt larger and more instinctive gestures with oil paint. His perfectionism allows him to execute line and structure in a relaxed yet thoughtful manner. As a result of his rationality, Landry knows how to best organize himself to allow more room for his creativity and spontaneity. His compositions often feature a group of musicians in full performance, from which emerges great emotion, energy and harmony.
