Marcellin Dufour is a contemporary post-war Canadian artist born in 1946 in the Saguenay region of Quebec. He started painting at the age of 15 and since then his talent has never ceased to evolve. In 1970, he was commissioned to illustrate the new edition of a book called ADAGIO from the well-known French-Canadian poet and author Felix Leclerc.
At the end of the 80’s, he shifted his focus towards abstract art after many years of painting landscape scenes. However, visual elements, colors and light, remind us that nature still plays a leading role in his paintings, using such elements to show a more intimate and organic feeling.
Critics often regard him as the “painter of light”. Dufour has participated in over 46 shows throughout Québec, Europe and the United States, 30 of which where he was featured as the only artist on exhibit. In addition, his works can be found in corporate and private collections in Canada and Europe.
