Canadian artist Sam Gatelaro, was born in Montreal in 1932. Gatelaro was a member of the Royal Academy in London, England and completed three terms as President of the Montreal Arts Club. He was also a member of the Westmount Independent Art Association and the Kirkland Artists Association. Gatelaro won numerous prizes for his work, including the George Étienne Cartier Paint in the Park Award in 1991 and the Award of Excellence in 1994.
After a long and distinguished aviation career of over forty years, Sam pursued his artistic talents in oil and watercolor until his death. His paintings can be found at the Canadian Development Bank of Canada, the Bank of Montreal and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, among others. The artist is known for his seasonal depictions of Quebec, particularly of Fall or Spring, in regions of Charlevoix, the Laurentians and Rigaud.
