David Paul Chun was a Chinese-American artist born in Hawaii in 1898. From 1915 to 1920, he studied art in China, settling in San Francisco, California, in the late 1920s. He took part in numerous exhibitions in the region in the 1930s and 1940s.

David Paul Chun was a Chinese-American artist born in Hawaii in 1898. From 1915 to 1920, he studied art in China, settling in San Francisco, California, in the late 1920s. He took part in numerous exhibitions in the region in the 1930s and 1940s.
During the Depression, he made lithographs for the Federal Art Project (FAP) of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). He was hired to work in the Graphic Arts Division, which employed artists to produce prints for distribution to public institutions.
For 45 years, he worked in San Francisco as a printer and was also active in the local art scene until 1946. He died at the age of 91 on October 24, 1989.
