Maurice Domingue began his art studies at the Montreal School of Fine Arts, then attended night classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts school on Sherbrooke Street. He specialized in watercolor, a technique for which he would become passionate. He opened a studio on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, where he also taught art. He later became a founding member of the Société canadienne de l'aquarelle.
In March 2004 the Maison de la culture in Pointe-aux- Tremble named their exhibition hall after him.
He is one of Quebec's most influential watercolorists, for his mastery of artistic techniques and his sensitivity. Société canadienne de l'aquarelle also regularly awards a prize in his name, the Prix Maurice Domingue.

Maurice Domingue, born June 12, 19181 in Pointe-aux-Trembles and died January 14, 2002 in Montreal1, was a Quebec painter.
Maurice Domingue was born in 1918 in Pointe-aux-Trembles, on the island of Montreal. He began his art studies at the Montreal School of Fine Arts, then attended night classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts school on Sherbrooke Street.There, he specialized in watercolor, a technique for which he would become passionate. He opened a studio on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, where he also taught art. He later became a founding member of the Société canadienne de l'aquarelle2.
He also joined the Institut des arts figuratifs3. In 1999, he took part in the inauguration of the exhibition room and café at the Maison de la culture Pointe-aux-Trembles by organizing an exhibition. He died in 2002 at the age of 83. On March 24, 2004, his name was given to the exhibition hall at the Maison de la culture in Pointe-aux-Trembles2.
He was known as one of Quebec's most influential watercolorists, for his mastery of artistic techniques and his sensitivity. He is one of the few Pointe-aux-Trembles artists to have received both Quebec and national recognition2.
