Marcel Mouly was born in 1918 in Paris, France. Sadly, he passed away at 89 years old in 2008. At age 13 Mouly dropped out of school so he could dedicate his time to working, in his free time he went to night school and made drawings. His boldly colored, semi abstract style was heavily influenced by the art masters, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Mouly became extremely successful later in his art career and exhibited all over the world as well as won many awards.

Marcel Mouly was born on February 6, 1918, in Paris, France. Mouly lived a very long, adventurous life and he died at 89 years old, in 2008 in Paris, France. At age 13 Mouly decided he was going to leave school and work. In his free time, he attended night classes and started drawing.
His art style was heavily influenced by the cubism of the master Pablo Picasso and the palette of Henri Matisse. His bold colours and semi abstract approach were what he was really known for, as well as his still lifes, landscapes, and port scenes.
Mouly gained so much popularity that eventually his paintings started being exhibited all over North America, Europe and even Asia. The French painter and printmaker also won a lot of awards for his paintings, he is known for being one of the most influential modern artists of the century.
