Scottish artist Andrew Archer Gamley was born in 1869 in Johnshaven, Kincardineshire. Gamley attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture in Edinburgh and was one of the first students to receive a Carnegie travelling scholarship. He was also a dedicated member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RWS). Gamley painted primarily in watercolour and took inspiration from the Scottish coastal harbours between Kirkcaldy and St. Andrews. His works have been exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture and at the RWS, among others. Andrew Archer Gamley died in 1949.
