Canadian artist Irène Teasdale Bernier was born in Montreal, Quebec and currently resides in Cap Rouge, Quebec. Alongside her career in nursing, Bernier participated in art exhibitions and by 1971, began to work regularly at her craft. She quickly became a member of the Moulin des Arts de Saint-Etienne, under the supervision of Albert Rousseau and worked alongside two master sculptors, Aristide Gagnon and Jean Paul Gerneau. Bernier continues to pursue her artistic journey at her Maison Blanchette de Cap Rouge studio.
The artist utilizes a number of techniques, mainly: oil painting, watercolor, etching, batik, silkscreen, aqua-graphics and sculpture. Her subjects include still-life’s and scenes of Quebec heritage and her style typically reveals the effect of time on nature and various objects.
