Biography

Born and raised in Montreal, Sharon Filip started her artistic journey at the tender age of seven painting & drawing.  She was especially passionate about fashion design which she pursued at 17 working for different companies. After getting married and moving to Toronto, she felt ready to open her own fashion design company all the while she was raising her children.

She also studied painting and portraiture at the Koffler Art Centre often working with a live model.  During her numerous visits to her parents’ home in Montreal, she found herself intrigued by the old photo albums which brought back memories of a simpler time and also a realization of how quickly life passes by.  This sparked her fascination with children and portraying them in an earlier time period, each telling us a story about their lives.

Filip shared: “Life experiences good or bad, leave an imprint, which we should cherish” Perhaps that is why there appears to be a bit of sadness in her subjects’ eyes which she hopes, draws the viewer in creating a sentiment of nostalgia.

Sharon Filip returned to her beloved city of Montreal and continues to work as a fashion designer, visual artist and also, designs beautiful unique pieces of jewelry.
