Simeon Gonzales is a contemporary abstract artist who was born in Cusco, Peru in 1973. His Inka heritage has a strong presence in his works, which are a celebration of vibrant, strong colours. Gonzales is known for recreating elements from his dreams, as he changed from a new figuration to a suggesting and pleasant abstract in which shapes acquire a soft aesthetic. The vigorous, secure and harmonious tonalities of his work truly stand out.
Throughout his career, Gonzales has altered his painting techniques but continues to use a rich, varied and abundant palette with expressive brush strokes to create unique textural works. As one critic has put it: Simeón González's work is a great contribution to abstract expressionism, his innovations are so overwhelming in regard of colour, giving to his work improvisation and non-mediate composition. Gonzales has won medals and diplomas for his work, as well as received honorific mentions. His paintings are exhibited throughout his native Peru, Asia, the United-States, Canada and Europe.
