Christo Stefanoff was born in 1898 in Kazanlik, Bulgaria. After attending Grammar school, His drawing teacher encouraged Stefanoff to study in the arts. Stefanoff is most known for his paintings and portraits of important world personalities such as Mussolini, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and President Motte of Switzerland. In addition to his art, Christo Stefanoff has brought a little-known painting technique to Canada: the spatula. All his works are painted using this technique, which gives his paintings an added three-dimensional effect. He is recognized as a master who works perfectly with light and color.
