Rudi Reichardt was a self-taught artist, born in1929 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Reichardt always loved art and music and was heavily inspired by European masters, especially the music of Baroque. At 17 years old he began to take art very seriously and took on a job at the Opera House in Karlsruhe to paint backdrops.
In 1951 (5 years later) Reichardt quit his job at the opera house and immigrated to Canada where he worked as an interior decorator. He painted murals, furniture and made paintings of course. In his free time he made prints and posters of the countryside of southern Toronto, where he lived at the time.
Reichardt’s paintings were given a lot of recognition when his paintings were personally selected by American actor Vincent Price. He continued his career painting landscapes from all over North America.
