Canadian visual artist Yvon Provost was born in 1935 in Montreal, Quebec. Provost studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Montreal from 1952 to 1957 and shortly thereafter, established his own school where he continues to teach oil, acrylic and pastel. Aside from being a full-time painter, he also maintained a 35-year career as an artistic director for Schenley Canada. Provost has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Quebec and continues to paint from his home in Boucherville, Quebec.
The artist was influenced by the Abstract Expressionism of the 1950’s, however, primarily paints figuratively. His subjects include Quebec scenery and landscapes, among others.
